Berney’s handcrafted bib martingale is made with our best quality leather for strength and durability and it is hand stitched and bevelled on both sides for a superior finish. The bib martingale is somewhat of a cross between a running martingale and an irish martingale. The benefit of this martingale is that it applies an extra pressure on the horses mouth when they throw their head up, encouraging them to lower their head. However it is also a safer option because it prevents the reins from coming over the horses head should the rider become dislodged from their saddle, hence why they are most commonly seen in horse racing, hunting and cross country. Another benefit of this bridle is that because it keeps the reins at a closer distance from each other horses are unable to turn their head and grab hold of their reins or martingale. This martingale comes in a standard size suitable for all horses as there are plenty of holes for adjustment.
